Received this today and put it together, and just fired it up. As another reviewer observed, all parts present, unit well packed and undamaged. All the holes lined up well, and the bolts all fit well where they were supposed to.

It is easy to light, and seems to put out a respectable amount of heat. It is tall enough to be safe from hair lighting, yet not so tall that the heat is far from where it is needed. It is quiet, and the entire burner seems to light evenly with a nice blue flame. Most important, it seems safe to me. Reasonable build quality, a couple of safety features common to things propane, etc.

I am taking one star away for poor instructions. The print and pictures are very small and poorly labeled, and aside from using one's logic and experience (which isn't hard for this particular assembly), the instructions on which sized bolts to use where is virtually non-existent.

Still, happy with the purchase so far... It is what we needed at... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, November 19, 2011

Like other reviewers I found the directions to be bad even for the breed of low cost, low-price point, Chinese made products. That said, it is not rocket science and not terribly difficult to assemble. I had mine together in less than an hour working at half-speed and it contained all the parts, was packaged well and arrived undamaged. The metal body and wheels seem to be of reasonable quality while the top/heat reflector is beyond flimsy. I personally do not have enough experience with other similar products but I am skeptical the top will last. To be fair, it was less than $200 and not $600+ so perhaps the quality was consistent with the price. I purchased the manufacturers cover as well so I will keep my fingers crossed and update on the ultimate longevity of the heater.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the hot tub deck, December 25, 2011

This is a powerful heater that is perfect for us. We wanted it so that when we get out of the hot tub in winter, it's not such a shock. The only negative I can say is that it uses a lot of propane very quickly if it's run at its highest setting. Now we're more careful about when we use it. Other than that, it's wonderful. The higher BTU rating makes all the difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps feet warm like nothing else can for 1 cent a hour, January 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming Pad (Tools & Home Improvement)
I must say I have been pleased with the overall performance of this product. I had contemplated getting this about a year ago after seeing mention of it in an old issue of the Lawrence Berkely National Labratory newsletter "Currents". The administration had suggested it as a energy efficient solution to many of its staff who found the cooler 68 degree settings at the lab to leave their feet cold. Previous to that individual staff members were bringing in their own 1500 watt space heaters and really driving up the electricity bills.
Anyway, I was finding that even if I had the temperature in my house up to 68-70 degrees that my feet would still get cold, especially at the computer desk. Seemed silly and very expensive to crank up the furnace even higher just to get two cold feet warmer. The rest of my body was OK but the feet just got cold and stayed cold. So after waiting another winter I finally bought one. Now with this foot warmer I find that in as little as 10 minutes I... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Will our office ever stop stinking?!!, October 18, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming Pad (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this last winter (2004), despite the many reviews warning about the odor emitted, and boy, do I regret it! I thought I could tough it out; most people said the horrible skunk smell would GO AWAY after some time, and, to me, warm feet would be worth a temporary annoyance. As some have suggested, I plugged this in the garage first, to try to burn off much of the odor before bringing it inside. I left it plugged in a large part of the day for about two weeks. The smell was definitely horrible, but I guess because our garage is very large, and far from airtight, the full extent of the noxious odor was not obvious, until I moved it into the office. In just a few minutes, the entire HOUSE smelled like a charred skunk. But it was more than a smell, it was a TASTE as well, and we coughed quite a bit if we tried to stay in the office with it, and I got a horrible headace. I turned it off and decided to give it another week in the garage, this time I left it plugged in all the... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Good lord - the smell!!!, April 12, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming Pad (Tools & Home Improvement)
Have you ever seen that Seinfeld where Jerry's car is attacked by BO that doesn't go away, and lingers on anything that crosses its path? This has the same disease. Plus, it was clearly a used item - the packaging was repacked and the foot warmer was dirty. Gross, but it's a foot warmer so I thought I'd give it a chance regardless. In its defense, it *does* work - my terminally cold wife liked the warm footsy feel; unfortunately she has a sense of smell. The room we had it in is still stinky! Get this thing outta our house!!! :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Dyson Hot burns money nothing more!, November 9, 2011
This review is from: Dyson AM04 hot+cool heater/table fan-Blue (Misc.)
I bought my Dyson Hot heater for one simple reason, curiosity.
The Dyson sounded promising and made the pitch that it was something truly new and revolutionary so I bit and got one....a white one!

At first glance the quality looked good, fit and finish were tight and it looked good on the surface.

Sitting down, I kicked back and prepared to enjoy reading the manual....that was short lived as it had lots of information on warranty and legal guck and only the most basic of operation information with absolutely no information showing specifications, no power use...no Heat output....nothing

Moving on I plugged it into the power use tester to see how much power it would consume and in return how much heat it put out at 12 inches away.

Power use was high especially considering how low the temperature it was putting out, for example of the ten temp ranges (here are three examples): Level 1: 1207 watts @ 102 degrees ambient at 12 inches...Level... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, but it is expensive and you are paying for style, February 18, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Dyson AM04 hot+cool heater/table fan-Blue (Misc.)
I read a lot of review about this product before I made my purchase. What I noticed on a pretty consistent basis is that the people who posted really negative reviews were people who don't actually have one because they think the heaters are too expensive. Lets' settle this up front, these heaters are expensive so if you're looking for a bargain then this heater is not for you. If, however, you're looking for a stylish way to heat your home or maybe just an individual room then I think this heater is a great. I am completely satisfied with my heaters. I have 2 of them, one for my bedroom and one for the living room, dinning room, kitchen area. The total square footage of my house is just shy of 1,000sq ft.

The heaters have kept my house an nice and even 67 degrees (my preferred temperature) without any noticeable fluctuations in temperature. I live in Ketchikan, Alaska, which is in the middle of a temperate rain forest. This means that we don't get the extreme cold... Read more

This review is from: Dyson AM04 hot+cool heater/table fan-Blue (Misc.)
Overall, I must say, I really like this heater a lot. I've purchased 3-4 others before and found this one to not only look the best, but it actually outperformed the others (Vorado) and such that I've bought before.

The Pros:
- It heats as stated - quickly, evenly and at a nice temperature.
- The remote works as it is expected to (unlike a Vorado), and it's nearly as easy as an Apple remote.
- It's beautifully designed.
- Impressive distribution of heat. It heats my living room (about 400 sq. ft) in about 5 minutes.
- Auto on/off to maintain the predetermined heat setting.

The Cons:
- The biggest problem is that I can't get the fan to turn down to a "whisper" speed. I'd give up a bit of heat to get the fan noise to reduce. It's a tiny bit annoying. I'm not saying it's loud, but it's loud enough. I wish the fan control allowed it to go down to practically zero.
- It's a bit pricey.
- I would love an RF remote instead... Read more
