I have 2 of the 5570 models, and they don't do near as well. The first one is from 2007, it has a very bright blue light that is not good for the bedroom, the thermometer is way off (it takes hours for it to register it is cold to turn on again). The model from 2008 (most likely what is listed here for sale) does a little better, by turning on low power every so often to register the temperature. Neither is as good as the 5571 though, which seems to accurately tell the temperature and heat the room accordingly, (and it heats it well!) One other concern is the bottom half of the air exhaust doesn't have any airflow, and gets very hot, where the new model has air evenly blowing out. Lasko doesn't make it possible for you to take these models apart and clean them thoroughly, because of 2 triangle shaped screws deep within the back. Always make sure to... This review is from: Lasko 5570 Digital Ceramic Tower Heater (Kitchen) This heater really fits our purpose. We have a porch area that, while closed in, gets pretty cold in the winter. The heater is a little noisy, but does cycle off and on so the noise isn't constant. The fan oscillates which helps the heat be more even in the room. Also the remote control makes it easy to change the temperature, turn it off and on, etc. All in all, it was a good choice for us. None of them had a thermostat that would go to the set temperature the second time. (A thermostat, once set, should heat to about the same temperature every time.) Because a reviewer said the thermostat on this unit was good, I purchased one. The room to heat was my bathroom, about 80 sq ft, no windows, door closed, interior location away from outer walls. It took a LOT of patience to arrive at the initial preferred setting--80 degrees after turned on about one hour. After that, the second time the unit was turned on for an hour, temps ranged from 72 degrees to 90 (it might have gone higher had I not shut it off.) An obliging local retailer allowed me to try four units in turn. None had a better thermostat. I suspect the different Chinese heater manufacturers source the same thermostats. I rate it one star because space heaters without thermostats are available for less, and it is very noisy. (Please don't tell me how... Which it kind of does but that design is a compromise which doesn't offer a great benefit. The design gives you the impression that the front fascia is mostly a heat output area but that's a lie. What they've done is taken a typical 1500W wide-type heating element and just stretched it vertically, so the actual area of output is through a 1 inch vertical gap between the center three fins. The lower quarter of the design is for the fan intake too so don't consider that part of the heating element. What this means is the heat delivery is a very narrow area of effect and you have to be standing within about three or four feet to feel it on your skin. In fact the output even on high is not very hot at all. On the plus side it means the casing remains cool to the touch on all sides, in fact you could actually put your hand over the opening and leave it there. A hair dryer has...
